Seren Selvin Korkmaz | Director of Turkey Office
Seren Selvin Korkmaz hold her PhD degree in Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University. She got her B.A. and M.A. degrees at the same department. Her research interests include political economy of exclusion, identity politics, urban politics, democratization and Turkish Politics. She continues her academic career in the International Relations Department of Özyeğin University. Seren is the member of International Political Science Association (IPSA). She worked as the assistant of various courses and projects at Boğaziçi University. She has also contributed to the studies and administration of various NGOs and research centers; and participated in the organization of various congress, workshops and seminars. Seren worked as editor and author in websites; as well as she was the Editor in Chef of Borsa Panorama Magazine which is published in Austria.
Alphan Telek | Director of Academic Affairs
Alphan Telek graduated from Political Sciences and International Relations department of Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2013 with an honor degree. In that year, he got an acceptance from the Turkish Republic History master program in Boğaziçi University Ataturk Institute. In 2016, he took the master degree with his thesis that focused on Iranian intellectuals and their discourses of political secularism. He still continues his doctoral studies in the same institute. Apart from his position in PS: EUROPE, he works as a research assistant in Political Sciences and International Relations department of Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey. His research interests contain the following fields: Political philosophy (equality and freedom), political theory, secularism studies, modern Iran and Turkish history and sociology. He is among founding members of PS:EUROPE.
Edgar Şar is currently a PhD candidate in Political Science at Bogazici University, Istanbul. He graduated cum laude and received his B.A. degree in Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University, Istanbul (2013). He spent one semester as an Erasmus student at University of Antwerp, Belgium and received his Masters degree from Bogazici University with his thesis ‘The Relationship Between Secularism and Democracy: The Case of Turkey in the 2000s’. Edgar Şar is currently working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Yıldız Technical University. In his current researches, he specifically focuses on the meanings of secularism in the contemporary political theory and the recent evolution of laicism in Turkey. His research interests include political theory of secularism and democracy, sociology of religion, Turkish politics, and constitutional law. He is among the founding members of PS:EUROPE.
Aslıcan Sezer | Director of Administrative Affairs
Aslıcan Sezer, after completing her secondary school education at Saint Benoît French High School in Istanbul, she received her bachelor’s degree from Political Science and International Relations department at Yıldız Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2014. She spent two semesters at University of Rouen, in France in 2011-2012 school year as an exchange student. During her studies, she worked as a trainee in the Center for Strategic Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara and in the Economic Development Foundation in Istanbul. She is currently a MA student in the department of EU Politics and International Relations of the European Union Institute, Marmara University. Her research interests include political theory, politics of Europe and European Union. She is among founding members of PS:EUROPE.
Çiğdem Kahraman Blocker | General Director of Projects
Çiğdem Kahraman Blocker graduated from English Language Teaching Department of Cukurova University in Turkey. During her studies and after graduation, she attended to many youth project trainings and actions supported by Salto Youth, Erasmus + and the Turkish National Agency. She volunteered in various national projects coordinated with by TOG (Community Volunteers Foundation), TEMA (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats) and LOSEV (Foundation of Children with Leukemia). During her teaching career, she developed her skills in student and language coaching, communication, career and job consultancy and many workshops on language teaching. She worked in a public primary school in Hatay, three different universities in Hatay, Ankara and Gaziantep, and a private school in Istanbul, Turkey. She tutored many different student groups from different countries and backgrounds during her stay in Italy, Slovenia, and Austria. Currently, she resides in Vienna, Austria and she is interested in starting a master`s degree in Communication Sciences or International Education Sciences.
