Alphan Telek | Director of Turkey Office
Alphan Telek is a PhD candidate in Science Po Paris. He graduated from Political Sciences and International Relations department of Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2013 with an honor degree. In that year, he got an acceptance from the Turkish Republic History master program in Boğaziçi University Ataturk Institute. In 2016, he took the master degree with his thesis that focused on Iranian intellectuals and their discourses of political secularism. His research interests contain the following fields: Political philosophy (equality and freedom), political theory, secularism studies, modern Iran and Turkish history and sociology. He is among founding members of PS:EUROPE.
Seren Selvin Korkmaz, as receiver of the Yale International Fox Fellowship, conducts her researches at MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies of Yale University. She pursues her PhD degree in Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University. Her research interests include comparative politics, political economy of exclusion, space politics, identity politics, democratization and Turkish politics. Seren worked in the International Relations Department of Özyeğin University as research and teaching assistants. She has also contributed to the studies and administration of various NGOs and research centers; and participated in various congresses, workshops and seminars as speaker and organizer. Seren is the co-founder and vice-chair Political and Social Research Institute of Europe (PS:EUROPE) and she worked as Director of Turkey Office in 2015-2017. Seren is also granted as a candidate of “youth leader” by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Turkey and participated in “leader training sessions” in 2016-2017 in Turkey and Germany.
Edgar Şar is currently an accepted PhD student in Political Science at European University Institute. He graduated cum laude and received his B.A. degree in Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University and received his Masters degree in Political Science from Bogazici University with his thesis ‘The Relationship Between Secularism and Democracy: The Case of Turkey in the 2000s’. In his current researches, he specifically focuses on the meanings of secularism in the contemporary political theory and state-religion-society relations and their impact on democratization in Turkey and the Middle East. His research interests include theories of secularism and democracy, sociology of relations, Turkish politics and constitutional law. He is among founding members of PS:EUROPE.
Aslıcan Sezer | Director of Administrative Affairs
Aslıcan Sezer, after completing her education at Saint Benoît French High School in Istanbul, she received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations department from Yıldız Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2014. She spent two semesters at University of Rouen, in France as an Erasmus student. During her studies, she worked as a trainee in the Center for Strategic Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara and in the Economic Development Foundation in Istanbul. She worked as an International Marketing Specialist in a private company. She is currently a MA student in the department of EU Politics and International Relations of the European Union Institute, Marmara University. She speaks English, French and Spanish. She is among founding members of PS:EUROPE.
